Context

The fight against single-use plastic water bottles

Single-use plastic bottles persist because of ingrained convenience habits, making this issue a true behavioral challenge. Tackling it requires thoughtful design that goes beyond the product itself. Effective solutions must make sustainable choices intuitive and appealing, supporting Dopper’s mission to shift behavior for lasting impact.

From single-use to refill

Dopper is committed to eliminating single-use plastic bottles by encouraging people to make refilling a natural part of their routine. With a clear and impactful mission, Dopper empowers individuals to choose sustainable options over disposables, supporting a cleaner planet one refill at a time.

Concept

Designed to change behaviour

The Dopper water tap extends the brand’s mission with a bold design: a droplet-shaped display, signature R-shaped faucet and two-tone finish. Each refill is tracked, showing users the number of plastic bottles saved, creating a shared sense of impact and community.

The talking tap

We created not just a tap, but a talking tap. The integrated LED display uses nudges and positive feedback to attract users, reward refills, and encourage repeat use. This reinforces sustainable habits through immediate, feel-good insights.

Talk less, do more - workshops and mockups

Several innovation workshops during the process ensured a shared vision of the product. We created numerous prototypes from foam mock-ups to functional prototypes. The design of our spill-proof drain took some trial and error to get it right; we experimented with different drip tray variants, made with our vacuum-forming machine in our in-house workshop until we landed the perfect design.
